Main Page > EOL Products > RUT240 > RUT240 Certification & Approvals > RUT240 UKCAThe UK Conformity Assessment (UKCA) is the UK product marking requirement that is required for products placed on the market in Great Britain (England, Scotland and Wales), substituting the EU requirements for CE Marking (CE marking will continue to be accepted in Northern Ireland). UKCA marking indicates that a product placed on the United Kingdom market meets the UKCA Marking requirements.
Description
UK started to use its own regulations instead of EU directives. Three of these regulations are shown on this table with its EU equivalences:
UK Regulation | European Directive |
---|---|
EMC Regulations 2016 (S.I. 2016/1091) | EMC Directive (2014/30/EU) |
Radio Equipments Regulations 2017 (S.I. 2017/1206) | Radio Equipment Directive (RED) (2014/53/EU) |
Electrical Equipment (Safety) Regulations 2016 (S.I. 2016/1101) | Low Voltage Directive (LVD) (2014/35/EU) |
Even though names of UK regulations differs from European directives, they are using similar or same standards. UKCA marking uses its own designated standards and CE marking uses its harmonised standards to fulfil requirements of the listed regulation/directive. Also, UK is still using standards that are also acceptable for CE compliance.
The UKCA marking can be used from 1st January 2021.
