TAP400 Product Change Notifications

Product change notifications (PCN) is a way of informing customers of upcoming changes related to Teltonika Networks products. This includes outward appearance adjustments, hardware improvements, changes to package contents, etc. Changes related to a product's firmware are not included in PCNs (click here to see the firmware changelog).

This page stores information regarding changes to the TAP400 device. Below you will find a list of both upcoming and already implemented changes sorted by newest to oldest (top to bottom).

2026.09.08: Firmware Upgrade Path for TAP400

All TAP400 devices running firmware versions older than RutOS 7.24.3 cannot directly upgrade to firmware version RutOS 7.26 or newer. Therefore, firmware versions 7.25.1 to 7.25.X serve as intermediate upgrade steps.

Detailed description	TAP400 devices running firmware versions RutOS 7.24.3 or older cannot directly upgrade to firmware version RutOS 7.26 or newer. Therefore, firmware versions 7.25.1 to 7.25.X serve as intermediate upgrade steps. Detailed Upgrade Path: TAP400 devices currently running firmware versions older than 7.24.3 must first upgrade to an intermediate firmware version (7.25.1 to 7.25.X) before proceeding to 7.26 or newer versions. Firmware-Over-The-Air (FOTA): Devices running firmware older than 7.24.3 will be offered the latest available intermediate firmware (7.25.1). Devices already running intermediate firmware versions (7.25.1) will be offered the most recent firmware available.

Change impact

2026.01.26: SDK Changes

With the release of RutOS version 7.22 in 2026 Q1, changes will be introduced to the Software Development Kit (SDK) used for firmware compilation on TAP400 devices.

Detailed description	Starting with RutOS version 7.22, the Software Development Kit (SDK) used for compiling device firmware will be updated and migrated to a new build system and SDK structure. This change affects customers who use the SDK to develop and compile custom firmware images. Existing custom SDK-based solutions may no longer be directly compatible with the updated SDK structure and tooling. Customers intending to compile firmware based on RutOS version 7.22 or newer will need to adapt their custom SDK solutions to align with the new SDK structure and compilation system. Devices running standard Teltonika firmware images without custom SDK usage are not affected by this change.
Change reasons	To migrate the firmware compilation process to a build system and SDK structure that is better aligned with internal development requirements and long-term maintenance goals.

Compilation impact: Existing custom build scripts, tools, or workflows may no longer function without changes when compiling firmware based on RutOS 7.22 or newer. No impact on standard users: Customers using official Teltonika firmware images without SDK customization are not affected by this change. Operational continuity: Devices already deployed in the field remain fully operational and are not impacted unless a firmware recompilation using the updated SDK is required.
Suggested implementation plan	Customers using the SDK for custom firmware development should review and adapt their existing SDK solutions to the updated SDK structure before migrating to RutOS version 7.22 or newer. It is recommended to validate custom firmware builds in a test environment prior to deployment.
