Introduction

This article contains instructions on how to setup BACnet.

Configuration overview and prerequisites

Before we begin, let's take a look at the configuration that we are attempting to achieve and the prerequisites that make it possible.

Prerequisites:

  • RUT955;
  • Server;
  • An end device (PC, Laptop, Tablet, Smartphone) for configuration;

If you're having trouble finding any page or some of the parameters described here on your device's WebUI, you should turn on "Advanced WebUI" mode. You can do that by clicking the "Basic" button under "Mode," which is located at the top-right corner of the WebUI.

BACnet

BACnet is a communication protocol for building automation and control (BAC) networks that use the ASHRAE, ANSI, and ISO 16484-5 standards protocol. It is a additional software that can be installed from the Services → Package Manager page.

BIP Configuration

Communications in BACnet over IP (BIP) rely upon the protocol rules of IP and Ethernet. To set up BIP, navigate to Services → BACnet → enable the instance and select BIP port.

MSTP Configuration

Master - Slave Token Passing (MSTP) is most commonly used to connect field devices to controllers / routers / control applications. The physical layer uses RS485 which allows up to 128 devices to be installed on a single network.
