Product change notifications (PCN) is way of informing customers of upcoming changes related to Teltonika products. This includes outward appearance adjustments, hardware improvements, changes to package contents, etc.
This page stores information regarding changes made to the RUTM54 device. Below you will find a list of both upcoming and already implemented changes sorted from newest to oldest (top to bottom).
2025.08.25: Updated enclosure design
Starting from Q4 2025, the enclosure of RUTM54 devices will be replaced with a new single-piece anodized design.
The updated enclosure is now made from a single piece instead of two separate parts.
Casing dimensions remain unchanged, but the depth and location of the grooves are different. See the images below for exact placement.
Engraving will be used instead of stickers for markings.
The new enclosure will be anodized instead of painted. Please note that this change will be implemented gradually, throughout a 3-month transitional period starting from Q4 2025. During this period, your shipments of RUTM54 may consist of either the current or the new enclosure as described above.

2025.02.25: Mobile and I/O POST/GET Service Removal with RutOS 7.14
With the release of RutOS version 7.14, support for the RUTM54 POST/GET service will be discontinued to enhance security while maintaining device functionality through alternative methods.
With the introduction of RutOS 7.14, the Mobile POST/GET and I/O POST/GET services will be removed from the firmware and will no longer be available in the package manager. These legacy services had security concerns, and their removal ensures a more robust security framework for the device. However, users will still be able to achieve the same functionalities using the device's API, which provides a more secure and efficient way to interact with the system.
Change reasons
Enhanced Security: Removing these services mitigates potential security risks and improves overall system integrity.
Improved API Support: Users can leverage the API for secure and flexible data handling without relying on deprecated methods.
The change aligns with modern security protocols and best practices in remote device management.

2025.02.24: Implementation of Read-Only System Files in RutOS 7.14
With the release of RutOS version 7.14 in Q2 2025, in RUTM54 devices will implement read-only permissions for critical system files by default. The new read-only configuration ensures a more secure and stable environment, though it may affect those who perform non-standard operations.
With the release of RutOS version 7.14, the device’s critical system files will become read-only by default. This prevents unauthorized or accidental modifications that could damage the system’s integrity. Standard users operating within typical parameters should not be affected, while those who rely on direct file alterations will need to adjust their workflows. Custom firmware options are expected to allow reverting to a more flexible configuration if required.
Change reasons
To maintain system integrity, enhance reliability, and prevent unintended damage to core files.
