Disabling LAN ports can differ slightly across various devices. For some devices, certain ports cannot be disabled, while for others, they need to be disabled using Port-based VLAN, and some require configuration through Port settings.


Non-disableable LAN port devices


RUT240, TRB141, TRB142, TRB145, TRB245, TRB246, TRB255, TRB256, RUT360


Devices disableable using Port-based VLAN settings


RUT950, RUT955, RUT300, RUT301, RUTM51

Go to Network -> VLAN -> Port based. Choose the desired ports and select the "Off" option. Press "Save & Apply". Networking rut faq disable lan ports v2.png

Important note: if you disable all LAN ports on the router, you will lose access to the router via Ethernet. To regain access to the router you can:

  • login to the router's wireless access point (AP) (provided that you assigned a wireless access point to the VLAN configuration)
  • login remotely via RMS
  • login remotely via the router's public IP address (provided remote access was configured prior to VLAN)
  • login remotely via VPN (provided the VPN was configured prior to VLAN)
  • reset the router's configuration to its default state
